Rainy Monday

I woke up this morning to the sound of rain drops pitter pattering on my balcony. It was a nice way to start the week after a busy weekend. I ended up in West Hollywood on Friday night with my good friend Xander and we headed to a birthday party of a friend of his that was exceptionally fun. It was a theme party - "When I grow up I want to be" - I of course went as a Princess and I helped Xander fashion a shark costume. We met an Indiana Jones, a hot dog, a ninja, ballerina, an artist and many more. We laughed a few times so hard I had tears streaming down my cheeks and by the end of our night, after walking the 5 blocks home in the rain, my feet were screaming at me for deciding I needed to wear high heels the whole night - the things we do. Woke up Saturday morning and after a good conversation headed up to Glendale to hang out with Maggie and Lance. Maggie and I decided we wanted to see a movie and get some food. We ate at this wonderful little hole in the wall called "Polka." It was a restaurant that had been featured on the food network. There were maybe 15 tables/booths in the hole place and the walls were covered with paintings and various pictures - it was quite cozy. This is from "Polka's" website:
"In Polish cuisine, there are three things of equal importance—Health, Nutritious, and Delicious. The blending of these three lively principles is how Polka’s cuisine was born. Polish cuisine techniques meets it hospitality to create a fine dining experience distinct than other. Where the “Polish “style of service comes straight from the heart, and where any occasion becomes a memorable evening."
It was SO GOOD! We shared Gulasz and Pierogi and they both came with steamed/roasted veggies, a small salad, soup AND dessert. So good.
After gorging ourselves on Polish cuisine we headed over to the Americana to see a movie. We watched War Horse which was pretty good but surprisingly not the best movie I saw all weekend. Somehow between 4:45 Saturday and 3pm Monday I managed to see 5 movies:
War Horse
Moneyball
The Descendants
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2
and Country Strong

The first three on that list were all very good. Moneyball was by far my favorite and I think all 3 of you who read this blog should see it. I even bought the soundtrack. Just a good story about a little bit of history.
I did manage today to get out of the house long enough to escort my roommate to target and back, fill up my car with gas and finishing stocking my pantry before I head back to work tomorrow. I'll leave you with a few shots from this mornings rainstorm . . .

Back in LB

I miss this face and other faces too.

We played in the snow yesterday before I headed down south. Roxy was pretty sure she shouldn't be left outside alone for to long.

I returned to my balcony at apartment #201 and was impressed that this little blossom was waiting for me. Pretty impressive considering I tried to pull all of the plants out of the planter before I left. I guess something took root . . .

Almost ONE!

You may remember Baby K from this post or possibly this post. She is almost a ONE YEAR OLD (my how time flies) so we decided to do some pictures before I head back to California. K is super cute and so much fun to play with - it was pretty hilarious capturing all the fun faces she makes. Enjoy the sneak peek!
